Product Description
The first of it's kind, natural contraceptive Contragel Green is an effective barrier gel which acts like a natural spermicide that is safe, gentle, and nonoxynol-9-free.
Nonoxynol-9 is a troublesome and toxic chemical in most conventional contraceptive gels, foams, films and the like, and has been found to be linked to tissue disruption leading to possible increased risk of HIV and urinary tract infections (UTIs).
Contragel is a safe and natural contraceptive with natural ingredients.
Ingredients:
- Water
- Lactic Acid (milk acid)
- Sodium Lactate (natural salt from fermentation)
- Methylcellulose (natural thickener or gel)
- Sorbic acid (natural preservative)
Clinically tested, CE approved & Health Canada approved.
Designed for use as a gel barrier with diaphragms (natural latex rubber & silicone), cervical caps and condoms (natural latex rubber & polyurethane).

Great Product and Customer Service

I use this with a Caya Diaphragm, and it is effective and non-irritating (unlike the nonoxyl-9 spermicide I used to use!). Also, customer service was great. My phone had a formatting issue where I couldn't see all the shipping options, but I emailed the Altie Store and they were very helpful, prompt, and friendly.

I often used a spermicidal film for extra protection with the rhythm method, and I will be honest, I had never ever looked at the ingredients with a second thought! Yuck. I have moved over to Contragel and feel so much better about my choice. So happy this is available in Canada!

I use this with my diaphragm. It keeps me from having a baby and is easy work. It does take a few extra minutes but it allows my partner and I to not need a condom and we can just be carefree and have fun without worry. This lasts me about 3 months and i use it pretty liberally and often because I'm a paranoid person but its great and not smelly or sticky or chemically.

I love Contragel and have used it in the past. I really do wish I could buy it in store where I live, but I can't seem to find it anywhere. My order process was super fast! I was surprised when it literally arrived the day after I placed the order! The expiry date is also about a year from now, which is plenty of time to use up three tubes.

After I quit birth control pills, I used to use those VCF film spermicide things and I always wondered what was in them. Upon doing my own research I decided to never use anything with N-9 In it again. I love Contragel, I use it with my diaphragm and I am sooo happy I am not on birth control pills and don't have to resort to harsh chemicals.

I have to order this from Canada and I do because it is awesome. It is pretty much the only spermicide out there that does contain Nonoxynol-9 (N-9), which is not good for you. From what I've read it's been linked to cancer and it's a harsh chemical. I have heard from so many people that have dealt with rashes (for both the woman and man) and painful irritation because of Nonoxynol-9 (N-9). Contragel has never caused any reactions. It doubles as a great lube. And it smells like frosting for some reason. It is the only spermicide I will ever use.

I tried American brand gels and just felt as though I was putting toxic chemicals into my body. I researched and found this product. I haven't had any bad reactions to it and either has my partner. It even has a faint vanilla scent which is very pleasant and barely noticeable. Highly recommended!
