Have you ever given thought to your shower curtain? If it's is made of PVC, read this.
Studies done by Center of Health, Environment & Justice and the US EPA have found that PVC shower curtains emit phthalates and up to 108 VOCs, some for up to a month, after being removed from their packages. Phthalates alone are linked to human reproduction issues. The VOCs listed have been said to place risk on our liver and central nervous, reproductive and respiratory systems. What makes matters worse is the fact that it is regularly exposed to warm temperatures and moisture while you or your family members are standing and breathing in the middle of it. Doesn't sound very nice, does it?
The perfect shower curtain should be strong, durable and non-toxic. A bonus if it's also antibacterial, antifungal and natural. Guess what? Hemp is all this and more! Because it is such a strong and durable fiber, hemp canvas is traditionally used in the sails of ships. It's no wonder this fantastic material makes for an amazing natural shower curtain.
Dream Design Hemp Shower Curtains are all-natural hemp canvas and don't require a liner. After showering, they simply need to be in a well-ventilated bathroom to dry (or spread out to maximize surface area). These curtains can also be machine washed and dried. A beautiful and healthy touch to a bathroom.

Not only did our old plastic curtain off gas, it was flimsy and ripped easily.
The old curtain used to flap towards my feet and legs and stick essentially surrounding me with wet vinyl . Yuck.
The Hemp Shower Curtain is totally amazing. It looks nice, smells great and actually feels better energetically. I had to buy a water proof device just to send this from the shower. It's that nice !!

Got this as a gift, and love it. I've always hated the plastic shower curtains (and with the off-gassing, even more) and like these ones so much that I took the colour into consideration when I was picking the colours for my bathroom

I read somewhere on a home toxicity list that vinyl shower curtains were among the worst offenders, with the offgassing compounded with heat and humidity.. it really creeped me out. When it was time to switch out my last nasty curtain, I searched for a hemp one and ended up buying one of these. It changes the feel of the entire bathroom! I can only describe it as a quiet luxury. I put it in our kids' bathroom and I'm relieved to have something safer for them in there. It was a bit longer than my last curtain but I moved the rod up a bit and it fits great.
